Celebrating Pride and Community Building

The Attic Youth Center creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community, and promotes the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society. The Attic offers a variety of programming and activities for LGBTQ youth and youth allies in a safe and supportive space, as well as education services to organizations through innovative and engaging workshops and trainings.

Why we funded
  • The Attic creates safety and a welcoming environment for young people who often struggle for acceptance everywhere else, including their schools, families and congregations
  • The Attic’s youth advisory council helps to guide the priorities and programming of the Center
  • Nearly half the youth involved have experience in the child welfare system. Many have been kicked out of their homes because of their gender identity or sexual orientation. Others have avoided the system altogether and are couch-surfing. Because of this, the Attic is active in a coalition to end youth homelessness
